A student-run game development studio in the Game Design program
at Hostos Community College based in the Bronx, NYC.
Equal parts internship and classroom, the studio provides a hands-on, professional learning experience for Hostos Game Design students who have demonstrated exceptional academic and creative achievement.
While at the studio, student-interns receive training in game development while working on original game projects. They are also tasked with organizing the day-to-day activities, including managing the project, creating codes of conduct, and how to effectively organize a game development team.
The key differential of our studio is we pay our student-interns an above-market hourly rate. To the best of our knowledge, we are the only in-house studio in a game design program to do so.
Our dedicated offices are just a quick walk away from our campus located in the South Bronx.
The studio has the tech and the space to support our interns while they develop their games.
A guided professional experience run by students, guided by faculty with decades of industry experience.
We provided everything students need to have a professional-level experience. Even snacks.
The studio internship includes visits to local professional development studios and training in presentation skills, project management, and development methodologies.
The studio exists to serve students, not the other way around.
We believe that how we work is equally as important as what we work on. The studio changes each year to fit our collective principles.
Our goal is to grow to become better game makers, artists, and people. Shipping projects is only important if it supports the above.
We put our health (mental, physical, spiritual) first. This means no work without pay, rest, or consent.
We support and celebrate our students' gender identities, neuro-diversity, racial & ethnic backgrounds, physical abilities, and all other spectrums of diversity.
We are proud to be a game development studio in the South Bronx.
Other Possible Games was founded in the Summer of 2022 after years of initial development guided by student input.
The studio was created to fill a gap in our students access to the New York City game development industry, which offers scarce paid internships or early career positions.
As a cornerstone principle, all student-interns at OPG are paid an hourly rate at or above the industry standard.
The founding student cohort (pictured here) underwent a rigorous selection process and began work in June 2022. They spent 2 months learning how to organize a game development project, how to work effectively as a team, and developing the studio's 1st original game, Terminal Station.
We accepted our 2nd cohort in the Summer of '23.

A Worthy Toy is a side-scrolling action platformer about a damaged vintage doll who fights off hostile toys that don't believe she’s worth anything.
Newly repaired Barbara Scarlett is not welcome at this toy store, especially after she tells everyone of the impending apocalypse—the store is closing. They respond by locking her up.
But the badass Barb severs her arm to escape and replaces it with a megaphone.
Your voice is your weapon. Use it to stun foes and navigate the shelves. Head for the main display to prove your value and save the store from bankruptcy.
Created in Godot. For most of the team, this is their first digital game.

Terminal Station is a 2D psychological horror game about confronting childhood trauma.
The player takes control of their 10 year old self as they are trapped inside of a nightmarish loop set in a derelict subway station filled with entities representing parts of their trauma. They must choose to work with or against them to break out of the loop and heal from their traumatic past.
For most of the team, this is their first digital game.
